Onion Powder / Granulated / Flakes (Allium cepa):

It is referred to in the Bible, when the Israelites complained of their hardships while being led by Moses from Egypt to the land of Canaan about 1500 BC remembering the onions that they ate in Egypt.

Onion is frequently referred to in the literature from Hippocrates, 430 BC down to the present time. It is on record that the Jews loved onions so much that they named a city after it -Onion. This city was built in 173 BC near the Gulf of Suez. The man who built it was called Onions. The city existed for 343 years.

The Onions we purchase from our growers for drying purposes are much different from onions grown for the fresh food markets; Egyptian onions have very high solid content with extraordinary flavor.

Prior to drying the onion is cleaned well and peeled while the top parts and roots are removed. The materials washed and sliced then Cleaned & sliced onions pass through the various phases such as temperature, air flow & retention stages. The water content is removed through sun and air drying methods to remove the maximum amount of moisture without jeopardizing the onions nutritional and flavor compounds.

Garlic Powder (Allium sativum):

Can you name one cuisine or country that does not use Garlic? The answer is none. Garlic is good for you. Researchers believe that garlic can benefit the immune system, lower blood pressure and prevent heart disease, and at least some people believe that it can ward off vampires and insects. The only downside is that raw or undercooked garlic tends to linger on the breath, though many people are more than willing to pay that price. No Garlic can tickle your taste buds and touch them like the Egyptian Garlic does; it has no competitor in taste, flavor and texture. Garlic powder provides some of the flavor, but not the texture, of fresh garlic. It disperses well in liquids, so it's a good choice for marinades. Egyptians have been using for years now, close to a few thousand years, since the time of the Pharaohs.

Dried Tomatoes:

Tomato Powder (Lycopersicon esculentus):

Egyptian Tomatoes are well known for their superior taste and red color, with no doubt they are one of the most fantastic aromas to have with your favorite pasta dish. Tomato powder is your solution to not having to open a can of tomato paste anymore. You'll be amazed at how much flavor sun dried tomatoes can be packed in one small bite. Tomato powder brings a nutritional value to your kitchen; it provides an easy way to boost the lycopene (fights prostate cancer in men and other great benefits to resist coronary heart disease) content of food.

Tomato powder can be rehydrated and used like tomato paste or sauce. However, its number one benefit is that it can be used in ways that tomato paste and tomato sauce cannot. Because tomato powder is dry, it can be added to bread, pastries or homemade pasta recipes and can be stored on your shelf for much longer periods of time.
